Interpreting Services

DHHS Interpreting Services provides qualified and regulated billingual Sign Language Interpreters on a provincial basis. Interpreters scheduled through DHHS are aware of the cultural nuances of both Deaf and hearing people. Our Interpreters have all passed the DHHS Provincial Screening Test and are active members in good standing of their national and provincial professional associations. They provide communication in ASL, the sign language spectrum and English. Our Interpreters are professionals and bound by a strict “Code of Ethics”, which includes confidentiality. They also are required to follow the DHHS policies and procedures. All roster Interpreters have updated criminal & family services record checks on file.

Our goal is to provide quality services to meet our consumers needs. These services on occasion may be funded, depending on the type of assignment, but mostly will be provided on a “Fee for Service” basis.

Please note: Interpreting Service fees are typically not charged to the Deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing individual.
