Guidelines for use of DHHS Facilities
DHHS is used by many groups and individuals. The use of the building must be governed in such a way as to preserve the good will of all regular users of the building and nearby neighbors.
Hall Capacity= 90 people
Do not tamper with thermostats and fire extinguishers.
No smoking is allowed in the building.
Written approval from the Executive Director must be obtained before Liquor can be served at DHHS. Requests must be made 30 days prior to the event. The Event Supervisor must then purchase a liquor permit from any liquor store and provide a copy to the Office Coordinator. On receipt of the copy of the liquor permit you will receive the building key.
All groups are expected to leave rooms in tidy condition and to ensure the lights have been turned out in the rooms used and doors shut.
Leaving the premises – Leaders should ensure that everyone has left the premises before leaving themselves. Group leaders are to make sure all doors are closed, for fire safety purposes, locked and the alarm set. Due to security reasons the event must end by 11pm and the building vacant before 12 midnight.
NOTE: “WHEN PRESSING THE RED BUTTON IN THE ENTRY WAY, YOU MUST EXIT THE BUILDING IN LESS THAN 30 SECONDS OR THE ALARM WILL BE ACTIVATED. If any user group accidentally triggers a false alarm and as a result causes the Security Company to arrive on site, any charges impending will be applied to that same user group deposit. Please read the security and exiting procedures very carefully to ensure that all appropriate steps are followed.
DHHS equipment is not to be used except when requested as part of the rental agreement. All furniture and equipment must be returned to the storage areas.
Due to fire regulations, the oven in the kitchen may only be used as a warming oven . Stovetop burners may not be used for frying or deep-frying.
In the event of a false fire alarm, the procedure to shut off the alarm is contained within a blue envelope, which is located inside the far left drawer in the kitchen. The key to open the fire panel in the lobby upstairs is also enclosed in the envelope. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ THE INSTUCTIONS PRIOR TO THE EVENT.
When using the elevator, please read the instructions in the elevator carefully. A DHHS staff person will explain the procedures provided, explaining the use of the ratchet in the event that there is a problem with the elevator.
There is a First Aid kit available. It is located in the cupboard above the counter, beside the refrigerator.
If you have any questions regarding the above guideline, please contact the Special Projects Coordinator at DHHS by calling 403-284-6200(v). 403-284-6201(tty) or via email: info@dhhs.ca
